Orthopedagogy draws on cognitive neuroscience, cognitive and developmental psychology, educational science, didactics and metacognition. It helps us understand the mechanisms at work in learning, so as to identify the obstacles each young person faces and offer strategies suited to how they think.
In the workshop, we do not just work on school results: we try to understand how the child learns, what gets in the way and which levers to use. Every student is unique; the aim is to help them discover their own intelligence so they can make better use of it.
Mental gestures at the heart of the workshop
- Attention: staying attentive and focused.
- Memorisation: learning, retaining and knowing how to reuse.
- Comprehension: understanding an instruction, a rule, a problem.
- Reasoning: searching, thinking things through, choosing a strategy.
Within the PRE
The workshop is led in pairs by teachers trained in orthopedagogy, to address the difficulties identified by the PRE team. The format (number of sessions, group size) is built with each PRE.
